Dear brother / Dear sister,
We are a small team of young professionals who got together to do something for Somaliland. We are not motivated by any clan affiliation. We are not aligned with any political party. We have simply constituted a not-for-profit organization here in Ottawa under the slogan of: One Nation, One Dream, One Cause. And certainly, this email is NOT coming to you to seek money.
With the current momentum in favour of Somaliland's international recognition as an independent state, we wanted to play our part and join forces with you and any other Somaliland association in Canada to make a difference. Together we can move mountains. By connecting our intentions and actions for the sake of Somaliland, we can become an influential force and enlighten the Canadian Parliament Hill with the colors of the Somaliland flag. Can you join us in that journey?
International recognition needs awareness from political forces that govern a country. That awareness comes from advocacy. And advocacy is a tough game but it starts with representation. That representation is what you used to elect your federal or provincial Member of Parliament....but little they know about our dear Somaliland and your heritage, your history and your interests. Wouldn't it make sense to engage, educate, inform these politicians and our fellow Canadians about Somaliland and its quest for international recognition? Wouldn't it even make more sense to do that engagement, NOT separately, NOT each on our own terms, BUT together as ONE community?

Nous sommes une petite équipe de jeunes professionnels qui se sont réunis pour faire quelque chose pour le Somaliland. Nous ne sommes motivés par aucune affiliation clanique. Nous n'avons aucune affiliation avec aucun parti politique. Nous avons simplement constitué un organisme sans but lucratif ici à Ottawa sous le slogan : Une nation, un rêve, une cause. Et certainement, ce courriel ne vient PAS vous solliciter de l'argent.
Avec l'élan actuel en faveur de la reconnaissance internationale du Somaliland en tant qu'État indépendant, nous voulions jouer notre rôle et joindre nos forces à vous et à toute autre association du Somaliland au Canada pour faire une différence. Ensemble, nous pouvons déplacer des montagnes. En reliant nos intentions et nos actions au profit du Somaliland, nous pouvons devenir une force influente et illuminer la Colline du Parlement canadien des couleurs du drapeau du Somaliland. Pouvez-vous nous rejoindre dans cette mission?
La reconnaissance internationale nécessite une prise de conscience des forces politiques qui gouvernent un pays. Cette prise de conscience vient du plaidoyer. Et le plaidoyer est un jeu difficile, mais il commence par la représentation. Cette représentation est ce que vous avez utilisé pour élire votre député fédéral ou provincial... mais ils connaissent peu notre cher Somaliland et votre héritage, votre histoire et vos intérêts. Ne serait-il pas logique d'engager, d'éduquer, d'informer ces politiciens et nos concitoyens canadiens sur le Somaliland et sa quête de reconnaissance internationale ? Ne serait-il pas encore plus logique de faire cet engagement, PAS séparément, PAS chacun selon nos propres conditions, MAIS ensemble comme UNE communauté ?
